DWP Christmas Bonus 2025: Who Gets £10 Payment Before New Year’s Day? (State Pension, PIP, & More) (2026)

A Christmas Bonus for Millions: Unlocking the DWP's Festive Treats!

In a festive surprise, nearly 24 million UK residents are set to receive a special Christmas gift from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). But here's where it gets controversial: not everyone will get it, and some might not even know they're eligible!

The DWP's Christmas Bonus, a £10 one-off payment, is a little-known gem for those receiving certain benefits. And this is the part most people miss: it's not just for those on State Pension!

The Bonus Breakdown:
- The bonus is a tax-free treat, separate from your regular benefit payments.
- It's for those receiving specific benefits, like State Pension, PIP, and more.
- The payment is automatic, so no need to claim it!

Who's Eligible?
To qualify, you must be a resident of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or Gibraltar during the week of December 1st to 7th. You also need to be receiving one of the following benefits:

  • Adult Disability Payment (Scotland)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Carer Support Payment (Scotland)
  • Child Disability Payment (Scotland)
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Industrial Death Benefit
  • Mobility Supplement
  • Pension Age Disability Payment (Scotland)
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (SADLA)
  • State Pension
  • Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Unemployability Supplement
  • War Disablement Pension
  • War Widow's Pension
  • Widowed Mother's Allowance
  • Widowed Parent's Allowance
  • Widow's Pension

Married or Cohabiting?
If you're part of a couple, both of you can receive the bonus if you're each entitled to a qualifying benefit. Even if your partner doesn't receive a qualifying benefit, they might still be eligible if you're both over State Pension age and meet certain residency criteria.

When and How?
The DWP will start making payments from December 31st, and they should appear in your bank account by January 1st, 2026. Look out for 'Bank Giro Credit' transactions with your National Insurance number followed by 'DWP Xb'.

If you think you're eligible but haven't received the payment by New Year's Day, contact your local Jobcentre Plus office or the Pension Service. Remember, Jobcentre Plus offices and phone lines are closed on New Year's Day, but reopen on January 2nd in England and Wales, and January 5th in Scotland.

So, there you have it! A festive treat from the DWP. But here's the real question: with the cost of living rising, is this bonus enough? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments!
