Imagine a world where luxury meets cutting-edge engineering, all afloat on the open sea. The latest Amels 80 superyacht has just completed its technical launch, marking a significant step in its journey to becoming a floating palace. Hull 8005 has set sail from Damen Yachting's facilities in Galati, Romania, and is now heading to Vlissingen, the Netherlands, for the final touches. Delivery is planned for 2027.
This news comes hot on the heels of the fourth unit's move to the outfitting stage just six months prior. According to BOATPro, there are a total of five Amels 80 yachts currently under construction.
This 80-meter line is the flagship of the yard's Limited Editions range, boasting a masculine and robust exterior designed by Espen Øino and interiors crafted by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. But here's where it gets exciting: the yacht features a 200-square-meter sundeck, a private owner's deck, and a 6.5-meter swimming pool. The beach club is a standout feature, opening on three sides to create a waterfront lounge complete with a spa, sauna, gym, Hammam, and massage room. Talk about a luxurious escape!
The Amels 80 builds upon the success of previous models, including the Amels 60, with over 50 Amels Limited Editions delivered to date. Key specifications include a 12.5-meter beam and a volume of 2,175GT. It can accommodate 14 guests in seven cabins, along with a crew of 21, including the captain.
"Today, discerning Owners understand that sustainability and smart ownership go hand in hand," says Rob Luijendijk, Damen Yachting's commercial director. He highlights the yacht's hybrid propulsion system and optimized hull design, which not only reduces environmental impact but also leads to significant fuel savings and lower operational costs. It's intelligent yacht ownership for the modern era.
Nicholas Schaffers, project manager at Damen Yachting, emphasizes the skill and dedication of the workforce in Galati, Romania. He notes that the launch is a testament to the passion and professionalism of the welders, fitters, engineers, and project teams.
Exclusive data from BOATPro reveals that Amels currently has nine yachts on order or in build. The largest of these is the 120-meter Project Tanzanite, the largest Dutch-built motor yacht in history, scheduled for delivery in 2026.
